A Hibiscus flower that you can make into tea is also edible. I had no idea!! I saw them at Trader Joes and they kinda taste like a fruit roll up. The one from Trader Joes has cane sugar in it so I just use the flowers to make tea then I let them dry out a bit and we eat them for snacks. Without sugar they are a little tart but just as I said in another post about the tea they are full of Vitamin C, it controls high blood pressure, helps with digestive problems,
and improves circulatory disorders. So it’s a good healthy little snack.
I’ve found a new drink that I love, love, love!
It’s a Hibiscus flower tea or Jamaica (pronounced hi-MIke-ah) tea.
It kinda tastes like cranberry juice, but I just love that I can buy the dried flowers and make something so healthy for my family and I.
I’m sure there are many ways that you can make this but the way I do it is I get about two
handfuls of the dried flowers and add them to boiling water then when the juice is nice and
red I scoop it out into a pitcher, I add more water to the pan and keep doing this until my
pitcher is full (I like mine kinda strong) then I add 3/4 of a cup of sugar, mix it up and serve with ice.
This is great for the long, HOT, summers here in Vegas!
